Renting A Scooter in Bali is another options you can do to cruise and explore Bali island by yourself. It is Cheap comparing to Hire a driver in Bali, It is much more economic. Riding a scooter is a fun things you may try in Bali. You will experience like a locals.

Scooter is the main vehicle used by local to transport themselves for many purpose, Like going to work, Transport the kids to Schools, Go to market etc. There are Local bus as the public transport but their line is limited. So The best and fastest is using motor bike.

If you stay in a remote area where is away from the town, You can ask your accommodation host or hotel staff to get it. Most of the scooter rental company even provide free delivery.

To rent a scooter you may being asked for your accommodation details and Passport number, You will be asked to sign the agreement for the rental. The damage cause during the rental is on your responsibility. Read their rental agreement carefully. 

How Much Does it cost to rent a scooter in Bali ?

The scooter rental fee is consider cheap or Very cheap, It will cost you from IDR. 50.000 to IDR 150.000 for 24 Hours usage. The price is depending on the engine capacity. The lowest 110cc engine like Honda Vario, Is the common brand of scooter (Automatic motor bike) you can get. If you want bigger engine you can get Yamaha N Max or Yamaha Lexi which has bigger engine and Body.

To chose the scooter must match with your Body, If you are such a big person, Yamaha N Max you can chose for comfortable ride, If your body size is consider small like a local, Then Honda Vario is more than enough. 

Is It Safe to Ride a Scooter in Bali?

Ride a scooter on the road in Bali is safe,depending how good you can handle your vehicle. As mentioned earlier, The traffic condition and the way of driving in Bali totally different. To start ridding a scooter you must understand the risk and you are sure that you can do it. If you think you are not capable enough then don't do it.

  • Know your scooter dashboard like the button, check the Brake, Fuel tank position etc.
  • Always wear helmet, When you rent it usually included from the rental company
  • Always ride in the left line and ride it slowly
  • The most important is you have your International license.
  • Use Horn wisely, A shot beep to take over or ask the rider in front you to give ways.
  • Avoid pushing the horn too long, This may make other getting angry.
  • When you are coming out from intersection, Always care both line.
  • Follow the local, See how they ride it.
  • Respect other rider, Don't Rush and enjoy the flow 


Fuel Price and where to get? 

The rental fee for scooter is not include Petrol or Gasoline, But you may ask the rental company to fill it for you with additional charge. There are 3 Types of fuel you can use for the scooter in Bali Indonesia. This below fuel can be used, The more expensive is the better for the scooter engine:
  1. Premium, Goldish color Price IDR. 7.000/Liter (US 50 Cent)
  2. Pertalite, Blue color Price IDR. 7.650/Liter (US (55 Cent)
  3. Permax, Deep blue color. Price IDR.9.850 (US 75 Cent)


To Get it you can just go to the gas station, if you cant find if just go to roadside warung or shop. You will find  rows of bottles with ex of  Vodka or whisky bottle. they are usually many found in the country side away from the Gas station.

Ridding a scooter in Bali is a fun thing you can do, When you ride it you can equipped your self with these things. 
  • Bring Your phone and Download Bali Maps 
  • Buy Bali SIM cards for your internet connection 
  • Always Use sun cream, Weather is hot in Bali (30-36 Degree)
  • Prepase rain coat, You can get one in a supermarket, Jut in case it is Raining.
